커스터마이징이 무엇보다 중요한 주택설계에서 건축주의 요구사항을 잘 반영하면서도 일반적이지 않은, 특색있는 주택을 구현해보고자 했다. 이 주택의 건축주인 니키리씨와 그의 남편, 유태오씨를 위한 작업공간과 거주공간을 조화롭게 배치하고자 남북으로 길게 누워있는 대지를 따라 크게 public과 private 성격의 두 매스를 배치하고 2층의 테라스를 통해 하나로 연결했다. 일반적인 주택과 달리 순환하는 내부동선과 북향의 침실, 2층에 위치한 LDK(거실, 다이닝, 주방) 등의 구성으로 건축주만을 위한 맞춤 주택을 탄생시켰다.
In the realm of residential design, where customization is paramount, the goal was to create a distinctive house that faithfully reflects the clients’ requirements. For the clients, NiKi Lee and Tae-o Yu, their work and living spaces were harmoniously integrated by arranging two masses – public and private – along the elongated north-south site, via a second-floor terrace. Diverging from conventional residential layouts, this design features a circulatory interior flow, a north-facing bedroom, and an LDK (Living-Dining-Kitchen) area situated on the second floor, resulting in a bespoke residence tailored specifically for the clients.
Analysis
일월저수지의 서쪽에 남북으로 길게 위치한 해당 대지의 특성상 북쪽까지 채광이 골고루 유입되지 못하고 서쪽이 동쪽보다 레벨이 높은 특징이 있었다. 자칫 단점으로 비춰질 수도 있었던 이러한 조건은 수면시간이 적고 어두운 침실을 선호하는 건축주를 위한 차분하고 조용한 북향 침실을 디자인할 수 있는 장점으로 활용되었으며, 대지의 레벨차를 주택 내부로 유입해 프로그램 간의 위계를 유도할 수 있었다. 또한 대부분의 시간을 거실에서 보내는 건축주 부부를 위해 대지의 레벨차를 이용해 장애물 없이 일월저수지를 조망할 수 있는 채광좋은 2층에 LDK를 배치하였다.
Due to the characteristics of the site, located to the west of Ilwol Reservoir and oriented longitudinally from north to south, natural light could not evenly reach the northern parts, and the western side was at a higher elevation than the eastern side. These conditions, which could have been perceived as disadvantages, were leveraged to design calm and quiet north-facing bedrooms favored by the clients, who prefer less light and dark sleeping environments. The elevation difference of the site was integrated into the house’s interior to create a hierarchy between different programs. Additionally, to cater to the clients, who spend most of their time in the living room, the LDK area was positioned on the well-lit second floor, utilizing the site’s elevation difference to provide an unobstructed view of Ilwol Reservoir.
